Long considered to be an industry standard, 3ds Max is a powerful and flexible 3D modeling and animation package produced by Autodesk. Although 3ds Max is not natively supported by the X-Ray SDK, models can be exported into a usable format by means of a plugin.
Note that 3ds Max does not have a PLE (Personal Learning Edition) like Maya, but it does offer a free 30-day trial.
